Marissa

A few weeks ago I got an email from an old friend. She told me she's coming in town from Missouri for business, and she wanted to know if I could do her pictures. I immediately said yes for a few reasons. One, because she's one of my old best friends from Elementary School.. We lived just a few houses down from each other and spent practically every day together. Its been years since I've seen her, and I knew it would be great getting to see her again. The other reason why I jumped at this opportunity is because she is completely and utterly gorgeous!! She always has been. I remember being extremely jealous of her long, beautiful hair. Life just isn't fair sometimes. But I knew my job would be easy as pie!

So I met up with Marissa & her friend Emily at Clearwater Beach, talked about old times and whats new. We told Emily all about our Louisiana food, and how nowhere else can compare. We talked about her little daughter, a sassy 3 year old who prefers to sleep in a cat litter sized tupperware container than her own bed. Complete with blankets and pillows and everything! How cute can you get?

We took tons of pictures on the beach, by the pier, on the rocks.. which we got in trouble for, but the pictures were definetly worth it! Here's to old friendships and new memories. Love you Marissa!!

Home

In celebration of the saints going to the superbowl FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, I wanted to share some good ol' Louisiana love. Cause really, is there any other place like it on earth? I'm just a cajun girl who grew up on red beans and rice & boudin. Mmmmm, boudin. With a last name like "Jeansonne", you're bound to have a lil Tony Chachere's in your blood! Now if you've never been to New Orleans, you are missing out so big!! My favorite city is so rich in culture, history, life & food!! And the people are so awesome! You can tell if someone is a New Orleanian, because of their laid back, 'here to have a good time' personalities. And of course they would be talking about Drew Brees' amazing arm, or screamin "WHO DAT" from the streets. But if I could just talk about the food.. again. Who can beat Cafe Du Monde with their scrumptious beignets? And Drago's with their charbroiled oysters? And umm.. may I mention CRAWFISH?? Yes, all the head juice, guts and everything. Ok, I'm making myself hungry for something spicy and its not even 10am. Here are some pictures Bryan and I took last time we were there. What a gorgeous place, my home. New Orleans.

Jazzy!

After many countless attempts of begging, my husband finally gave the OK to get a puppy!!! This is big news!! So I’ve been looking on tons of websites and adoption agencies.. even was about to get scammed from quite possibly the worst scammer in the world. Luckily, he was so dumb, so I wasn’t one of his victims. But I really wonder, how many people has he scammed? Anyway, I replied to an ad on craigslist for a puppy, and low and behold we ended up getting the dog at midnight in the Publix parking lot! The previous owners weren’t sure what mix she was. Maybe a Shar Pei mix, maybe some Chow or Shepard ? But I only needed to take one look and was smitten! They named her Jasmine, but we shortened it to Jazz. Has sort of a New Orleans feel to it. She’s such a doll. We spent the day going to parks, playing, trying to potty train. Anyway, you could say I’m head over heels for this little girl. Expect to see more of her on my blog!!

Just Beachy

Beach weddings are the best!! Don’t you agree? Nothing like saying your vows to the love of your life next to the ocean!! I mean come on, doesn’t get any better than that. Minus my fear of seagulls, this wedding was perfect. I got to shoot this FABULOUS couple from Michigan, who came down for their destination wedding at Fort DeSoto Park in St. Petersburg, FL. Very sweet, very intimate. Angela and Terry were so darling and I had so much fun. And what a beautiful couple! I mean Angela has the most gorgeous skin, any woman would kill for. And Terry’s eyes are a photographer’s dream. I wish them nothing but the best of luck, and many many years of wedded bliss! Congratulations guys!!

I found it!!

Have you ever felt lost? Like the kind of lost where you don’t know what you’re doing, or even what you should be doing. I’ve felt that way, pretty much my whole life! Not knowing what I want to do “when I grow up”, and trying to figure out what was missing in this huge void. And then I found photography. It’s like a huge spotlight shined down and I heard the angels! I finally figured it out!! Why didn’t I think of this before? I mean I’ve always loved photography. It only makes sense to make this my full-time passion, right?? Well, since I’ve gotten my camera, I’ve learned so much and I can’t put my camera down. I mean I even have trouble sleeping at night because I’m too busy thinking about different poses, different places, different people! Not only has the burden been lifted off of my shoulders to figure out a career path, I found something I’m completely passionate about!! Really, how many people get to live out their passions?? I’m just excited where this will take me.

This past weekend, my husband Bryan and I took a little hike in Weedon Island Preserve here in St. Petersburg, FL. What a gorgeous place! So quiet, peaceful.. I seriously felt like I was distrubing the peace with the clicking of my camera shutter. Thats how quiet it was! I loved the boardwalks and the mangroves you could really see in the low tide. We’re definetly going back, and walking a different route, discover everything there is to discover there.

Sweet Baby Love

Meet my friend Diana, her dad and her precious son Julian. What a sweet family!! Julian, the most lively 2 year old I’ve ever seen! Seriously, I couldn’t have been fast enough to keep up with him. We went to the park and he just loved chasing after those ducks.. haha, oh to enjoy the simple things! There is nothing like a child’s smile. Wouldn’t you agree? And when they get excited, they do that high pitch squeal?? So stinkin’ adorable! And congratulations to Diana, she’s expecting again! I had so much fun taking their pictures, and can’t wait to take more when she gets a bigger baby bump and when the little one arrives!

Yay for Christmas... and Gingerbread Lattes!

So it’s my favorite time of year… for multiple reasons, really too many to name. First and most important, getting to spend time with family, watching Christmas movies together, eating Christmas cookies (or beignets in my family’s case), etc. Really its the best time! I have two really awesome families. I’m so blessed!! Second, the cool weather. We finally get a break from this miserable Florida heat. 70 degrees, not too bad!! I can step outside without immediately breaking into a sweat. Third, SHOPPING!! I mean, what girl doesn’t love shopping?? Great sales, great stuff, the crinkling of the plastic bags… and I can get away with it.. because its christmas! And of course, the most delicious, yummiest drink you’ll ever drink is being sold only at this time of year. Yes, the heavenly Gingerbread Latte from Starbucks. The sweet, foamy gingerbready goodness on my taste buds sends me to my happy place. The same happy place I go whenever I shop.

I hope this Christmas is filled with your family, friends, and memories on top of memories. Merry Christmas!!

Graduations and Congratulations

I really have the best sisters I could have ever possibly have. Both of them are smart, gorgeous and freaking hilarious. This past weekend, my youngest sister Katie graduated with her marketing degree from Southeastern University in Hammond, La. This makes her the first college graduate of the family!! No way!! My little sister is now a college graduate! This is a little weird for me. I still have dreams about her being a little goofy 5 year old with the cutest curly hair you’ve ever seen. Granted, I’m only 4 years older than her, its so weird to see she’s so grown up. While we were in town for her graduation, I had the honor of shooting her graduation pictures. She was such a great model, like I said… she’s gorgeous! She made my job easy, not to mention so much FUN!! I posted some pics already, but I wanted to dedicate a blog to her. Curly Top, this is for you!!
